How to optimize and Manage your Songs on Myspace for maximum explosion!

Even if you’ve been on MySpace for a while and think you know all these basic details, I encourage you to look over the following tips anyway. Make sure you are making themost of you songs on Myspace.

Go to your "Manage Songs" section.

This is where you upload and edit the settings for the four songs you can place in the music player on your page. Here you can allow visitors to add songs to their profile pages, auto-play the first song when someone views your profile, or randomize the song play. When you upload, you can
also control whether people can download or only stream each track. You may want to consider giving some away and holding some back. But that’s up to you.

Two hot tips to consider with song files:

• Here’s something that will make you stand out! Create a special file that is a sampling of several songs. A verse and chorus, then fade out and into another song, etc. Maybe include excerpts from five of your best songs. Give this file away free. Include a spoken word bit at the end where you thank people for listening and invite them to visit your site to
purchase the entire CD.

• Before you upload your MP3s, make sure you have filled out the ID tags within the file. Include the song title, artist name, album title. I also suggest you include your web site address behind your artist name. (To edit these tags, right-click the file name while it plays in a program such as MusicMatch Jukebox or Windows Media Player. Look for an
Edit ID Tags option in the menu.)

One more important song file note: MySpace users can rate (and therefore rank) any song listed in an artist’s MySpace music player. Encourage your fans to do so. The music player on your profile page also displays how many times each song has been played. The best rated and most listened to songs appear the highest on the MySpace music charts.

So, from the beginning, choose four songs that you will want to keep there for a long time. Because when you upload a fresh song, the count goes back to zero.
